Toolboxes’ sizes and shapes vary as per the profession. A toolbox, also known as a tool chest is used to organize, carry, and protect the owner's tools used for business. Modern toolboxes are predominantly metal or plastic. Wooden boxes built today are primarily intended for specialized craftsmanship, as machinist, tie and die makers, jewelers and other craftsmen.
Metal tool boxes (typically steel) weigh more than plastic ones. A plastic toolbox laden with tools can weigh the same that a comparable steel box does when empty. Besides this, metal boxes rust and their sharp edges can spoil or leave an impression on the surfaces of things they are kept on. Metal is, however, known for being stronger than plastic and that’s why it is preferred over plastic boxes. Metal boxes can support the weight of many tools.
